Our research group at the Brain and Mind Centre and the Charles Perkins Centre of the University of Sydney, Australia is focused on understanding mental health disorders and their underlying neurobiological principles. This is particularly important for adolescents and young adults, where identifying underlying pathophysiological processes can lead to more targeted treatment approaches and reduce the negative impact of both the disorder and treatment side-effects.
Thanks to the contributions of many patients and healthy volunteers, we are able to study the human brain, mind, and related disorders, which helps us to understand these underlying principles. Our hope is that this will lead to a better understanding of the neurobiological basis of mental disorders. We aim to not only develop new diagnostic perspectives but also innovative therapeutic approaches.
